The Best Five Suspense Thriller Movies

Updated on October 30, 2012

Thriller Genre

Thriller is a movie genre that brings us suspense and excitement, playing with our minds using suprise, terror, anxiety etc. Thrillers objective is to keep it's viewers on the edge of their seats during the whole movie. These type of movies were always my favorite because of the high adrenalin rush that comes with a good thriller.

Thriller movies as a genre have it's subgenres, such as mystery thrillers, psychological thrillers, action thrillers, political thrillers etc. But the suspense is the reason why are the thriller movies the most exciting movies of all. A good thriller movie will always keep the suspense until the end, and no matter how hard u try you will never be able to guess the end.

However, now days it's hard to find a good thriller like those in Hitchkock's era. Alfred Hitchock was and will probably stay as the best thriller movie maker of all time. I' ve tried to write about mine favorites trillers that are newer, but I couldin't make a mistake and not to put one of his movies on my list.

So I'll recommend these five movies: "The Game", "Identity", "Usual Suspects", "Fight Club" and "Psycho"

The Game

The Game is a psychological thriller made in 1997, directed by David Finch, starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn.

In almost every movie that Douglas acts, he is a millionaire, so why would this one be any different. He plays Nicholas Van Orton who is an investment banker. Although he has everything, his life is pretty much planed, and it's all about work. Also, there is one more thing that haunts him... His father committed suicide at the age 48, and Nicholas is just about to be 48, and that scares the hell out of him. His brother Conrad ( Sean Penn) gives him a birthday card (voucher) for a game in Consumer Recreation Services (CRS). Although Nicholas is a bit sceptic about the whole thing, after talking to a few rich friends, that had very good experience with the CRS, he decides to go.

In CRS's headquters Nicholas is going through some serious health tests, complaining all the time but he finished it. However CRS informed him that he wasn't the game material, he forgets about the hole thing, but the game has began.

Nicholas' life starts to fall apart. His money is gone, no one believes him. So he asks himself a question is this really just a game, or something more...

To them it was fun, and they continued to do so often. However, many people saw what they are doing and join them.

That was the begging of the Fight Club. Narrator moved in with Tyler in one old ruined house, out of town. Although the first rule of Fight Club was not to talk about Fight Club, their membership highly increased, and they were ready to start doing some serious stuff, not just fight.
